Lorraine Bawden | Australian Artist
I was born in New Zealand, however I now reside in Australia and have become an Australian citizen.
From a very small child I loved to draw paint and create things
out of anything that I could lay my hands on.
It was soon obvious to all that I had a creative gift and a great imagination,
that also enabled me to write stories.
Being dyslexic made school life difficult, as I was totally lost and confused in
the many areas that most people accomplish naturally.
I was raised in many different homes with different guardians and although this
added to some unpleasant childhood memories, I must add that I also met some
beautiful people who helped me along this road and taught me how we can all make
lemonade out of lemons. Every memory happy, sad or bad, is a memory that can be
transferred to canvas or print. I have many.
I first married at the early age of seventeen and had my five
beautiful children by the time I was twenty eight years old. All are now parents
themselves, so our family has extended to thirteen grandchildren, ranging from
three years to twenty two. All are beautifully unique and have added wonderful
memories to my life. Also my children's partners couldn't have been any nicer
than they are, even if I hand- picked them myself.
We've all had our ups and downs as all big families have, but there's always
been tremendous love and support shown whenever any family member has needed it.
Without those dark clouds that sometimes roll in, we would never appreciate the
awesome sunsets that follow.
I also really do appreciate my hard-working and caring husband Ken, being
married to an artist can be a bit difficult, but never dull.
If you have family and great friends like I have, you have everything.
If you have no family, you can always be part of God's. If you have no friends,
be a friend.
We all have strengths and weakness' and we can either feed one or the other. My
greatest strength is my sense of humor. My worst weakness, impulsiveness and a
tendency to be like a shooting star. Scale the top... then the sudden drop.
